WTO TBT Enquiry Point, information centre for technical regulations and standards for the Republic of Croatia, was established by the Government of the Republic of Croatia on 24 September 1998 within the State Institute for Standardization and Metrology (DZNM) in the course of Croatia’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). Pursuant to the Regulation on the Establishment of the Croatian Standards Institute (HZN), the activities of the Enquiry Point were transferred to HZN.
In 2010 the Government appointed HZN as the WTO Enquiry Point for technical barriers to trade (TBT) and the national body to notify the WTO Secretariat on the technical regulations and standards in Croatia.
The Government entrusted HZN with the task to, in cooperation with state authorities, fulfil the obligations from the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT), notify the WTO Secretariat of adopted and draft technical regulations, adopted and draft standards, conformity assessment procedures in the process of adoption or adopted and any changes related to regulations and measures implementing the obligations of the Agreement.
At the Enquiry Point interested parties from any WTO member may obtain data and documentation on technical regulations in Croatia, Croatian standards, conformity assessment procedures and membership and participation of Croatia in international and regional standards bodies and conformity certification schemes, as well as in bilateral or multilateral agreements within the TBT Agreement.
